OUR MISSION

The Coping Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the emotional welfare of its clients. We provide high quality, professional counseling at an affordable rate.

Our clients are holistic persons consisting of body, mind and spirit. Emotional health can be affected by problems in any of these areas. Therefore, all treatment will focus on the entire person. When spiritual counseling is offered, it is from a Christian perspective.

The goal of counseling couples or families is healing of the relationships. It is the belief of the counselors that there is no one "right" way that a marriage relationship must be organized. And the uniqueness of the partners and the specific situations affecting the couple are considered to be dynamic factors that dictate the needs of the couple. The goal of therapy is to explore the uniqueness of the relationship, identify obstacles to growth, and to encourage personal change.

The Journey

When divorce is unavoidable, divorce counseling is provided. The goal of divorce counseling is to support the grieving client during a time of great pain and confusion. The healing process includes an understanding of the dynamics that contributed to the collapse of the relationship.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Except for specific provisions in law, the policy of The Center is that no client information will be released without the written consent of the client/responsible party. All records concerning clients are considered confidential.

Clients who request marital therapy can expect that the divulging of information between the couple will be at the discretion of the therapist as he/she feels is appropriate for relational healing.

By Texas law, all licensed counselors and therapists are mandated to report elder abuse and child abuse. That communication can not be held confidential. Suicidal and homicidal intentions will also be disclosed.

EFFICACY OF SERVICES

Discovery

No therapist/counselor will conduct therapy beyond their level of competency and license. No guarantees of cure are given to clients. The dynamics of counseling are too complicated to allow for the suggestion that any one counseling method will assure cure for any particular client. Therefore, careful consideration is given to selecting the best therapy based on the presenting needs of the client.

HOURS OF OPERATION

In order to accommodate the varying needs of our clients The Coping Center, Inc. does not have fixed hours of operation. There is a great deal of flexibility in the hours available for counseling. Call (936) 293-3014 to schedule an appointment or for more information. 24 Hour Answering Service.

  PROGRAM COSTS
A sliding scale is used to determine the costs of counseling. The costs range from $25.00 to $75.00 per session. Should those costs prove to be excessive, special arrangements may be made. Clients who have medical insurance may allow mental health coverage to be charged for services in accordance with the conditions of that policy.

CLIENT PARTICIPATION

With the exception of legally mandated treatment, participation in treatment is voluntary. Persons who voluntarily submit themselves for treatment are expected to participate in the program. Excessive absences from sessions, or failure to complete assignments can result in termination of services. However, such termination does not relieve the client or the responsible party of financial responsibility.

Persons who are legally mandated to attend treatment will have their attendance and participation reported to the sending agency.
